IRRIGATION
Sprinkler System protection, Care, and Repair
Stop and Waste Valves + Backflow Preventers
Protecting your Water System
These two devices may be small, but they play a big role in protecting your home’s water system.
Stop and Waste Valves are used to shut off and drain your sprinkler system before winter. When installed properly, they allow water to drain out of your irrigation line so it doesn’t freeze, expand, and crack underground pipes.
These valves are usually buried 4-6 feet deep, but they may go even deeper at some properties.
If you notice leaking, poor drainage, or freeze damage in spring, your valve might need to be repaired or replaced.
- Price starts at $1225.
Backflow Preventers stop dirty or used water from flowing backward into your clean water supply. This is especially important with sprinkler systems, where things like fertilizer or bacteria could otherwise end up in your drinking water.
- These are required by code in many areas and may need annual testing.
- We install, replace, and test backflow preventers to keep your system safe and city-compliant.
- Price will vary.
At New Pipe, we install and service both of these devices with care and precision—so your water stays clean, your pipes stay safe, and your sprinkler system runs worry-free.
Sprinkler Start-Ups AND Winterizations
Seasonal Care That Saves You Money
Your sprinkler system needs a little seasonal TLC to keep working its best—and to avoid major damage when temperatures drop. That’s where we come in.
✔️ Spring Start-Ups
When the ground thaws and it’s time to water again, we’ll:
- Turn your system back on safely
- Check pressure and function
- Inspect all valves, heads, and zones
- Adjust sprinkler heads for proper coverage
- Catch any issues before they become leaks or dead spots
✔️ Fall Winterizations
Before freezing temps hit, we’ll shut your system down properly by:
- Turning off your stop and waste valve
- Draining the water from your lines
- Blowing out the system (if needed) to prevent freeze damage
- Checking for any leaks or needed repairs
Skipping this service can lead to frozen pipes, cracked fittings, and costly spring repairs.
